December 31, 2010: THE END.

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 9:10 p.m.
Description: Well, that's it. Three hundred and sixty five days of my life, documented. You've seen family, friends, coworkers, new people, the good the bad and the unmentionable. I'm still debating whether or not I will do this for 2011. This year has been amazing. I graduated from college, got two promotions at my job, networked with a large amount of people that can help me in my endeavors, and most importantly, strengthened my relationship with God. I have seen new life for families and also seen some people pass away. There's been numerous times where I've gained a new perspective of the world, life and the essence of being within this year. God has done nothing but blessed me, and I owe it all to Him. I'm excited about this upcoming year. So much so, that I have decided to not set any goals or make any resolutions. I am just going to grow in the Lord and let Him have his way in my life. If you take anything from this, the most important thing I can tell you is that Jesus loves you. Get a personal relationship with Him. He can be the best friend you have. He'll never leave you, nor will he not be there to listen to your prayers. He loves you and wants to bless you because you are His creation. You can find all His promises in the Bible. It is the blueprint of how you should live your life. In my 22 years of life, I have never found it to steer me wrong. Ask Jesus into your heart today and make Him your personal Lord and Savior. Make a conscious decision to follow Him, and miss a Devil's hell. I am always here to help you if you ever want to make the biggest step in your life, which I PROMISE YOU, it will be. Be safe, all of you. God bless you, and see you next year.

December 30, 2010: Life and Death.

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 8:30 p.m.
Description: My mom told me that our next door neighbor's son passed away yesterday afternoon. In my life, personally, I have never really experienced someone I know passing away so fast, here one day, and gone the next. It was always gradual. We weren't super close, but we always spoke to one another when we saw each other. What I'm even more surprised about is how I have been taking it. My mom told me last night, and I was distraught, but I regained my composure. Then today at work, I was saving face. It gradually developed into a sulking look that some of my coworkers noticed. It started to bother me early in the morning, and then trickled down into a severe depression, that I couldn't talk about. The reason I'm worried is because I am afraid of how I will react when someone even more close to me passes. But enough about that. He was a good person, and died at such a young age. It sucks that the last time I saw him, all I got to say was "hi". Wish I would have said more. My mom wanted me to go with her to a few places. We went to Trader Joe's, which I had never been to. The friendly staff made my day a little better, even though I was still hurt. We also went to a pet shop. I didn't know why she wanted to go. She told me when she hears about death or experiences death around her, something that comforts her, other than prayer, is getting fish for the fish tank or flowers to bring life around her. I need to find something like that to fill the sort of "void" I feel right now.

December 29, 2010: GUMMIES!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 3:20 p.m.
Description: Gummy bears are awesome. They are delicious and cool. They have flavors. They are important enough to be the topic of one of my last days of the year. They are lowfat, but also full of sugar and HFCS. A gift and a curse. Cherish them.

December 28, 2010: THE REASON FOR THE SEASON!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 11:20 p.m.
Description: A handful of weeks ago, a coworker of mine, Becky was wearing a pin like this on her vest. I told her I loved it, and she reached into her bag and gave me one. Ever since I started wearing it, many customers and coworkers have commented on it, expressing their love for the message it spreads. I love it because it really focuses on the truth and also the fact that "God" is in a bigger font. It also serves as a reminder to believers and those who claim they believe about the true meaning of the season.

December 27, 2010: GRANHAPPY!

Location: Richmond, Virginia
Time: 4:30 p.m.
Description: Christmas afternoon, I was at my Aunt's house, looking at old pictures of her and my mom, and their parents, my grandparents. This is my grandfather on my mom's side of the family. This was my Grammy's husband. His name was Roosevelt Robinson, but we took to calling him Granhappy. Or at least my family did. He passed when I was very young, and I only slightly remember seeing him in real life. The most I know about him is from the stories my mom used to tell about him. He had a stern disposition, but a loving heart. He was as strong as an ox, but gentle as a big old teddy bear. My mom told me that whenever he would hold me, even if he was really mad, if I looked at him, he would just smile. I may not have known him that well, but one things for sure. He sure did raise up two strong, smart and God-fearing black women. I love you, Granhappy! Rest in peace!

December 26, 2010: SNOWED IN!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 5:30 p.m.
Description: YOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! IT SNOWED LIKE NONSTOP LAST NIGHT INTO TONIGHT!!! IT WAS KUH-RAZY! I stayed in the house today, didn't get up till like 2 in the afternoon, ate, chilled, slept, ate some more, and uploaded some vids of my great Christmas yesterday to Facebook and Youtube. I had fun, relaxed, forgot that it was Sunday and asked the Lord to forgive me LOL We had originally planned to stay at my grandparent's house, but it was getting too bad, and you don't wanna be on the road in foolishness like this. It's been a long time since we've had weather that was considered a blizzard! So this was crazy! Work tomorrow? Depends on the weather tomorrow.

December 25, 2010: Oh Holy Night...

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 1:50 p.m.
Description: So, there it is. 2/3 of my most recent paycheck sitting on the living room bench. I'm not the best wrapper, but I did the best job I could, and that's what matters. God, it felt so good to bless my family properly. And if you asked me to do it all again, I would be running the aisles of Wally World with a full basket. Also, look in your heart and say a prayer for those less fortunate than you today. If you look into your heart, you'll realize how easily you take your blessings for granted. Merry Christmas to you and yours. God bless you all.

Going caroling in the freezing cold with my family even though I'm tired as butt from work, and seeing the sparkle it puts in my nephew AJ, my brother Marcus, and their friend Hosea's eyes, to bless people despite the weather: PRICELESS.
There are some things money can't buy. For everything else, there's Merry Christmas.

December 23, 2010: Gail's Holiday Brittle!

Location: Newport News, Virginia

It got me to thinking that I should make my own holiday dish. Maybe a sweet potato cheesecake or a savory lemon truffle. Good job, Gail. Yums!

December 21, 2010: LUNAR ECLIPSE!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 2:40 a.m.
Description: Josh tipped me off to the fact that a lunar eclipse was taking place tonight, so I stayed up and watched as the moon turned a dark red hue. I forget whether this is one of those "only comes by once every hundred years" things, so I was very excited to see it. I remember Haley's Comet comes by every 6 years, and I saw it when I was younger. I hope to live long enough to see it again. Goodnight moon, goodnight cold freakin' weather, goodnight sanity, goodnight Lord.

December 20, 2010: Who was the 37 President of the United States?

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 8:20 p.m.
Description: My brother was watching flipping through cartoons and came across what had to be the History Channel. They were doing a documentary on World War 2 and the mind of Adolph Hitler. I love watching things like this because it takes you into the minds of some of the most influential people of the last few centuries. Learning about history and politics is very important to me because it gives insight into how things in the past affect things in the future. If they could do this for people in the Bible, it would really be amazing to see how their lives compare and contrast to ours in the modern day.

December 19, 2010: SHE'S A STAR POLISHER!!!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 9:10 p.m.
Description: The Beulah Tabernacle Christmas Program was today, and they did a play myself and other Beulah Babies did at their age. All of the children did well, and it was really great to see them all perform. The ages ranged from 1-17 so if you grew up in the church like me, chances are you participated in roughly 34 Christmas and Easter plays altogether. Maybe one day my kids will be in those plays.

December 18, 2010: POM!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 10:00 p.m.
Description: I think I may have discovered my new favorite fruit. It's usually oranges, but lately, it's been all about the POM! These are pomegranate arils. They are the juice-filled coverings of pomegranate seeds. So eating them is like eating a sunflower seed, only instead of a seed, you get a small burst of sweet pomegranate juice! They are full of antioxidants and very deeeelicious! What's your favorite type of fruit? Do you like pomegranates?

December 17, 2010: MMMMMMMMMMM JESUS!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 11:50 p.m.
Description: While cleaning my room, I found one of my coins from the Bahamas. It reminded me of my missions trip there in 2008. It also reminded me of the brothers I went there with, and the things the Lord revealed to me while I was there. I want to travel all over the world and I think that I'll collect coins from every place I visit.

Thursday, December 16, 2010

December 16, 2010: Mac Daddy!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 9:30 p.m.
Description: My Dad always makes these breakfast sandwiches that really hit the spot in the morning! This was one of his creations, and to be honest, it was DEE-LISHOUS! and it really helped on a day like this where, because of a crap load of snow falling, I worked an 11 hour shift. It held me to at least noon, and didn't leave me starving before my lunch break. I'm tellin' ya'll, my Dad is killing it! Hahaha!

December 15, 2010: COMIX!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 11:50 p.m.
Description: I used to draw comics all the time as a child. I had a comic called Channel Q News, with a large cast of characters and a consistent schedule as far as drawing a strip once a week. It's part of the reason I loved going to Book Fairs like my brother does now. What's crazy is I used to constantly email back and forth with Lincoln Pierce, the creator of Big Nate.

December 14, 2010: MUHNEH IN THA BANK!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 10:40 p.m.
Description: I've been giving a LOT of thought to how I want to invest my income. Soon, I will be making key choices that will affect the rest of my life financially. School loans will also be a part of these major steps I'm taking, but I can say that I do feel confident in how I'm about to handle my money.

Monday, December 13, 2010

December 13, 2010: "MAWWAIGE!"

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 8:40 p.m.
Description: AMC showed one of my favorite films of all time. The Princess Bride, a childhood favorite actually turned out to be a cult classic unbeknownst to me. The avid acting, hilarious plot and dedicated humor all mad this film crazy great for any generation! They also showed the first Chronicles of Narnia film. It reminded me of when my mom used to read the Narnia series by C.S.Lewis to my sister and I. It seems like great literature and film are now very rare. I miss originality and real drama.

December 12, 2010: To be part of a life.....

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 1:00 p.m.
Description: Today at church, my friend Jessie was giving an announcement about how she sponsors an impoverished child from South America through a company called Compassion International. I looked at some of these cards of children I could sponsor. Something in my heart turned. I was almost brought to tears, contemplating whether or not I should do it. Jessie had such a powerful testimony when I asked her how doing this affected her emotionally. To be able to be part of a life, write letters and send pictures, and share the love of Jesus with someone who is less fortunate than herself makes $38 a month seem like nothing. When I think about it, I spend mote than that on useless crap anyway. I do need to pray and really research the company, but I can say that I'm about 98% on board with this. I recently asked the Lord for a burden for souls. If this is his answer, let the waterworks in my eyes begin.

December 11, 2010: When you want to smell like "Oh, yes."

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 10:40 p.m.
Description: Fellas, forget your oils, discard your BOD spray, drop everything you're doing. When you want to smell like "Oh, yes.", get yourself Drakkar Noir Eau de toliette by Guy Laroche! I bought it yesterday and used it today. Just a dab kept me throughout the day and garnered an alarming rate of compliments! It's not like I bathed in it! My Dad was the first to put me on to colognes, and rightly so, because he knows what smells go with what clothes, what weather, and what person! Thanks Dad!

December 9, 2010: My pleasure!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 9:10 p.m.
Description: Somebody bought Chick-fil-A for dinner tonight, and it reminded me of when I worked there. In 2005, it was my first job, and I really learned a lot from it. Not so much the business side, but that wherever I worked, for the rest of my life, I would be able to become close friends with people, exude professionalism in the workplace, gain rapport with people in higher positions and corporate departments. It's part of the reason I think I have been prospering in my job now. Shout out to Paul Fiebelkorn, my first employer. Some of his knowledge and guidance helped me develop my skills for working any job. I still say the Chick0fil-A trademarked "My pleasure" to this day! ARRRGHHH!!!

December 8, 2010: NOG!

December 7, 2010: REFLECTIONS.

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 8:50 p.m.
Description: I noticed that thus far, I have done this one-photo-a-day blog each day faithfully since I started it at the beginning of this year. It showed me two things. The first thing it showed me was that I'm proving my love for consistency. I think it is a very important trait. The second thing it showed me was that, if I can dedicate some time to my blog everyday, then what of my prayer life? What about my reading my scripture? I'm not as consistent with those things. Why can't I be, as I am with something like this? Time to change things up. I've got to walk my talk, if you understand me. Gotta live the life I claim. Jesus, here I come. Forgive me for running away for so long.

Time: 11:20 p.m.
Description: I'm a simple guy, and all I want is two things. I want this laptop and a Nikon D3000 DSLR Camera. High-priced items, yes, but they both will serve a purpose in what I want them for. I am thinking about doing freelance media, and both of these tools with assist me in my endeavors. And I'm only asking for help, not that someone would buy it all. I'm responsible with my money.

December 5, 2010: PAPER PLATES!!!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 10:40 p.m.
Description: You ever see someone with an idea, a product, or a concept and said to yourself "that's gonna be the next thing to blow up!"? Well, I did, and boy was I right! Romar Watson's Paper Plates Clothing Company is straight FIRE! I remember standing at the bus stop for school when I was younger and seeing Romar there, too. From then to now, where he is selling and marketing his product, has been a long time! But he's doing his thing. I've followed his blog on his website, since I found out about it, and even bought a skully from his store. Delivery was fast as crap! I ordered it, and it materialized in my hand out of mid-air. Good quality clothing, a strong dedication to selling and gaining an adamant rapport with investors and companies is going to take his clothing to the next level, and I'm excited to see him make it. To be able to say "I know that clothing designer." is pretty cool! His mission statement includes Fiji Water, and I love Fiji Water because it's Holy Water in disguise. Kudos, Ro! Nothing but support sir! Ya'll check out the site at http://www.paperplatesclothing.com

December 4, 2010: 80 years!

Location: Hampton, Virginia
Time: 6:20 p.m.
Description: Family and friends from all over the world came to the Hampton Convention Center to celebrate Apostle Das' 80th birthday. 62 years of dedicated service to God under his belt, he has reached thousands of people, led thousands of souls to Jesus and built hundreds of churches in 16 countries in Africa. I consider it an honor to know him, and also to know that he and his wife, Mama Das, pray for me, possibly more than I pray for myself. God bless you, Apostle Das! Here's to 80 years more! By the way, Table 23 was the place to be! Me, Michelle, Alison and Angela were talking about back in the day, and the comparison of how the church is today. Good stuff!

December 3, 2010: JAM!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 9:30 p.m.
Description: You are looking at one of the coolest people I have ever met in my life! Josh Brandt used to work with me at Sam's Club a couple of years ago, and he was just as cool then as he is now, if not cooler! He knows more about The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air show than you will ever know, so don't try him. Every time we talk, we're always cracking up! He found me up here yesterday, and there was no question of whether or not we were hanging out tonight. We went to Cheddar's and cracked up for a good 2 hours! We also caught up, and showed each other where we were in our lives. It was so awesome that I got to slow my life down and enjoy myself for a little while, and Josh was a big part of it! It's like with him, I find the humor in ANYTHING! Got much love for you, bro!

December 2, 2010: L.A.M.P. Compilation!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 11:50 p.m.
Description: The L.A.M.P. project is a project I started this year, connecting many local music artists that I know together. I believe in the potential of these people to make it big to the point that I want to give them more publicity for their endeavors. It would make me so happy to see all of them make it and really reach their dreams. I'm thinking of putting together a compilation album, getting a song from each of them, and putting it out for people to listen to.. I want people to go far, because in this lifetime, it's rare.

December 1, 2010: BANDS DON'T DANCE NO MO', ALL THEY DO IS THIS!

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Time: 11:10 p.m.
Description: I was putting my laundry away and I found my old Spartan Calvary shirt. The Spartan Calvary is the official pep squad of Norfolk State Athletic groups. They cheer, chant and root on the football, basketball and volleyball teams for home and away games. I remember having so much fun at games, dancing to DJ Vince's music, joking on the other teams, performing with the band, doing "Shake Deez" and singing the alma mater. I joined when I first came to NSU, because I was new and wanted to meet people. And now some of those people are like family to me. I love my SPARTAN CALVARY! G-G-G-GOOOLLLDDDSSSIIIDDDEEE!!!
