Description: Today at church, my friend Jessie was giving an announcement about how she sponsors an impoverished child from South America through a company called Compassion International. I looked at some of these cards of children I could sponsor. Something in my heart turned. I was almost brought to tears, contemplating whether or not I should do it. Jessie had such a powerful testimony when I asked her how doing this affected her emotionally. To be able to be part of a life, write letters and send pictures, and share the love of Jesus with someone who is less fortunate than herself makes $38 a month seem like nothing. When I think about it, I spend mote than that on useless crap anyway. I do need to pray and really research the company, but I can say that I'm about 98% on board with this. I recently asked the Lord for a burden for souls. If this is his answer, let the waterworks in my eyes begin.

I started sponsoring through Compassion in June of 2009. I researched for about 2 weeks before I asked my husband about it, and I hadn't found ONE thing that sent up red flags. I learned that the organization repeatedly gets the highest rankings from Charity Navigator and that they are committed to integrity. We started sponsoring a little girl in Ghana. Since then, our Compassion family has grown to 8 beautiful children. The journey has been amazing! The more I learn about Compassion, the more I fall in love with the group and what they do. Sponsoring has completely changed our lives. (I do blog about Compassion quite a bit, so feel free to check out my blog if you want to read more about our experience!)
